We will be holding Mock interview weekends in Oxford, Cambridge and London in October and November for our Medicine applicants. Applicants will be interviewed four times, each for 30 minutes, exactly replicating the experience they will have in December. They are each followed by 15 minutes of detailed feedback and advice for improvement.
The interviewers are exclusively Oxbridge Medicine tutors, unlike any other interview course, this means that these mock interviews are as realistic as possible, featuring real Oxbridge-style questions. Students will also be asked to submit a personal statement in advance so that our tutors can prepare questions specifically for each student.
Applicants will also be asked to prepare a short presentation on their subject of interest within Medicine. In preparation for our tutorial session and interview technique session, guided by one of our Medicine tutors. Students will discuss ideas and concepts which might come up at interview and practice and perfect a model answer for each question.
Feedback from previous years has shown these sessions to be extremely useful, particularly as it allows candidates to see from their colleagues’ performances what makes a particular applicant or answer stand out. It also replicates the Oxbridge tutorial setting by allowing each student to contribute to build their confidence when arguing and reasoning in a field they may not be familiar with.
Students will experience what the real interview is going to be like, allowing them to approach their actual interviews feeling prepared and confident. On completion each applicant will receive written feedback compiled by all of the tutors on their individual strengths and areas to work on before they go up for interview in mid-December.
